Deputy PM Koo Yoon-cheol: 'Forced Dollar Sale Rumors' are False Information

As the top economic official, Deputy Prime Minister Koo Yoon-cheol has clearly stated that the 'forced dollar sale rumors' circulating online are untrue.

Deputy PM Koo pointed out on X (formerly Twitter) that "claims that the government will forcibly sell dollars have been circulating on some internet cafes and blogs, in connection with discussions of an 'Emergency Fiscal and Economic Order' for crisis response amid the prolonged Middle East conflict."

Koo added, "In an emergency crisis, the spread of groundless fake news can lead to market instability and erode policy trust, requiring special vigilance." He also stated, "We will take strict countermeasures against the spread of such fake news, including requesting police investigations."
