Choo Mi-ae Confirmed as Democratic Party Candidate for Gyeonggi Governor

Rep. Choo Mi-ae was confirmed on the 7th as the Democratic Party's candidate for Gyeonggi Governor in the June 3 local elections. So Byung-hoon, chairman of the Democratic Party's Central Election Management Committee, announced the results of the main primary election held over three days from the 5th to the 7th, stating that Rep. Choo secured a majority of votes to be selected as the candidate.

Kim Dong-yeon, the current Gyeonggi Governor, and Rep. Han Joon-ho, who also competed in the primary, were eliminated.

Throughout the primary, Candidate Choo leveraged her experience leading prosecutorial and judicial reform as chairperson of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee, focusing her campaign on securing the support of her base. Choo is a six-term lawmaker who has previously served as party leader and Minister of Justice.
