US President Donald Trump heightened tensions on Tuesday (local time) by suggesting a resumption of military action if the nuclear agreement with Iran breaks down. In an interview with the New York Post, Trump said current relations with Iran were being 'reset' and that he was "loading the best munitions onto the trap." He added that the weapons being prepared were "the best ever made" and "at a higher level than before."

The United States and Iran are set to hold their first peace talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Wednesday. US Vice President JD Vance will represent the US side, while Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf will attend as the representative for Iran.

Trump expressed doubts about Iran's sincerity, stating that while they claim to be freezing or dismantling their nuclear weapons program, they tell external media they want an enrichment program. "We're dealing with people we don't know if they're telling the truth or not," he said.
