107th Provisional Government Founding Anniversary Ceremony Held
The ceremony commemorating the 107th anniversary of the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea was held on the morning of the 11th at the National Memorial of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum and National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik attended the ceremony.
In his commemorative speech, Prime Minister Kim stated that the legal heritage of the Republic of Korea stands on the footsteps of the Provisional Government. He reflected on the historical significance by mentioning the 150th anniversary of the birth of Baekbeom Kim Gu and the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Provisional Government's Shanghai headquarters. He also announced plans to discover descendants of independence activists, expand the scope of compensation for bereaved families, and elevate Hyochang Park to the status of National Hyochang Independence Park.
It was reported that Lee Ha-jeon, the oldest surviving independence activist, recently passed away at the age of 104, and his remains will be brought back to his homeland on the 22nd.
