Man in his 40s Sentenced to 1 Year in Prison for Entering Women's Restrooms

A man in his 40s who habitually trespassed in restrooms, spaces women should feel safe using, has been sentenced to one year in prison. Mr. A is accused of entering women's restrooms in buildings in Seoul's Dobong and Nowon districts a total of four times between November and December of last year, committing his crimes by eavesdropping on occupants or peeking at them.

The Seoul Northern District Court's Criminal Division 3 ordered Mr. A to serve one year in prison and complete an 80-hour sex offender treatment program. He was also ordered to undergo public disclosure of his personal information for three years and be restricted from employment at institutions related to children, adolescents, and the disabled for five years.

The court cited the defendant's repeated trespassing into public facilities used by many people, his prior criminal record for similar offenses, and the fact that he committed the crime during a period of probation as key reasons for the sentencing.
