Severe AI Bias Prompts Calls for Corporate Transparency

An analysis suggests that AI in our daily lives is altering our thinking through bias. According to the latest report, AI systems are not neutral, tending to lean toward specific ideological directions due to choices made during their design. Researchers found that such AI can influence political opinions, exhibiting a left-leaning tendency. The report details how AI systems can reflect and shape specific perspectives beyond simple information provision. AFPI AI expert Matthew Bertell noted that the combination of AI's persuasiveness and its left-leaning bias can exert a lasting influence on users' beliefs regarding major policy issues.

The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) stated in its own report that a majority of artificial intelligence platforms exhibit an overall left-leaning bias. The institute pointed out that this ideological bias pattern is not confined to specific models but is prevalent across the entire AI industry.

Consequently, there is a growing demand for AI companies to transparently disclose their system design methods. AFPI has urged AI companies to openly share information regarding system design choices, bias testing results, and safety incidents.
