Trump posted the image late on April 13 (local time) on Truth Social, featuring patriotic symbols such as himself healing the sick, followers, the American flag, bald eagles, and the Statue of Liberty. Some Trump supporters immediately voiced criticism.

Ryan Gaines of OutKick stated he couldn't understand the reason for posting the image, emphasizing the need for humility and that "God will not be mocked." Bonchie, a writer for RedState, called the image blasphemous and urged its deletion and an apology. Journalist Megan Basham argued that Trump should immediately take down the image and seek forgiveness from the American people and God.

Some expressed disbelief at the former president posting a photo comparing himself to Jesus Christ. Others raised questions about whether the image was posted as a joke or if he genuinely believed it.
