Translator Hwang Seok-hee Out of 'Frozen' Musical, 'Spider-Man' Movie Projects

Translator Hwang Seok-hee, a familiar name to the public, has been confirmed to not be participating in the translation work for popular projects, including the musical 'Frozen' and the movie 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'. Hwang had previously worked on the translations for 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' (2017) and 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' (2019), but will not be involved in the translation of 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'. The production team for the musical 'Frozen', where his participation was initially planned, has finalized Hwang's withdrawal; the musical is set for its domestic premiere this August.

On May 30th, reports emerged concerning Hwang Seok-hee's past criminal record related to sex offenses. According to these reports, Hwang had previously received a suspended prison sentence for charges including aggravated indecent assault in 2005 and quasi-rape in 2014.

Following these reports, VOD versions of entertainment programs such as 'You Quiz on the Block' and 'Point of Omniscient Interfere' were deleted or edited. Online bookstores have ceased sales of essays written by Hwang Seok-hee.

Through his personal social media (SNS), translator Hwang Seok-hee stated that he is currently reviewing the related matters with his lawyer and intends to consider corrections and responses if the reported content contains factual inaccuracies or unverified information.
