Gyeonggi Superintendent Lim Tae-hee Kicks Off Re-election Bid

Gyeonggi Superintendent Lim Tae-hee has officially announced his bid for re-election by registering as a preliminary candidate for the nationwide local elections. This registration marks the first step in Superintendent Lim's intention to challenge for the superintendent position once again. Superintendent Lim registered as a preliminary candidate after concluding his schedule at the Provincial Council's plenary session on the 28th.

During his term, Superintendent Lim focused on improving basic academic skills, which had declined due to the COVID-19 crisis. While concentrating on resolving educational blind spots such as multicultural and special education, he simultaneously pursued customized education through high-learning initiatives and college admissions reform.

Speaking at the Gyeonggi Provincial Council's plenary session on the 21st, Gyeonggi Superintendent Lim Tae-hee stated, "I have strived to adhere to two principles: focusing on students' futures and depoliticizing the educational field." He added, "I have made efforts to implement these principles in educational administration and personnel appointments. For policies, I have sought to respect my predecessors and complement and develop them in line with the future generation's trends." Furthermore, he commented, "I believe that conservative and progressive are political frames. I have done my utmost to protect the political neutrality of education so that it remains unshaken by political parties or political views in the educational field."

Superintendent Lim is scheduled to register as a preliminary candidate for the 'June 3 Local Elections' on the 28th and will compete against the progressive camp's unified candidate, to be selected on the 22nd, in the June 3 local elections.
