A large-scale rally by the Samsung Electronics union has impacted semiconductor production. Following a rally held on April 23rd, production volume from the foundry and memory business divisions has decreased.

The union held a rally at the Pyeongtaek Campus with approximately 40,000 attendees, which also involved work stoppages. As a result, production volume in the foundry business division is estimated to have decreased by 58.1% compared to normal, and the memory business division by 18.4%. Production disruptions occurred on major production lines within the Pyeongtaek Campus, and some global big tech companies have initiated verification procedures regarding potential disruptions in Samsung Electronics' semiconductor supply.

The Samsung Electronics union plans to go on a full-scale strike for a total of 18 days from May 21st to June 7th to push for its demands, including the abolition of the incentive cap, and has announced plans for rallies in front of the residence of Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong.
