Samsung's First Smart Glasses to Drop 'Galaxy' Brand
Speculation is mounting that Samsung Electronics' first smart glasses will launch under a name other than 'Galaxy.' The possibility emerged after a recent update to Samsung's 'Device Scan' app revealed a new device entry simply named 'Glass,' along with features like 'Glass Quick Pair' designed to assist with device connection.
The IT industry has recently seen a divergence in corporate performance based on AI and cloud business results. Alphabet, boosted by its enterprise AI solutions and strong cloud operations, achieved its highest revenue growth in four years, reaching $109.9 billion, exceeding market expectations. Google Cloud revenue hit $20.02 billion, indicating the potential success of its AI-driven services. Naver also set a new revenue record for five consecutive quarters, totaling 3.2411 trillion Korean won, by integrating AI technology into its search, advertising, and shopping services. This demonstrates that the commercialization of AI technology is translating into tangible economic outcomes.
Samsung Electronics achieved its highest-ever quarterly earnings. Increased demand and prices for AI memory chips propelled the performance of its DS (Device Solutions) division, leading to first-quarter revenue of 133.9 trillion won and operating profit of 57.2 trillion won. The DS division was the primary driver of this performance, recording 81.7 trillion won in revenue and 53.7 trillion won in operating profit.
