A fire aboard the U.S. Navy's Aegis destroyer USS Higgins caused the ship's power and propulsion systems to shut down for several hours. The incident disrupted the ship's operations and led to a temporary loss of power throughout the vessel, according to U.S. defense officials.

There were no injuries among the crew due to the fire, and the ship's power and propulsion have since been restored. The U.S. Navy is currently investigating the cause of the fire.

The Higgins is an Arleigh Burke-class Aegis guided-missile destroyer measuring 154 meters in length with a displacement of 8,200 tons. It has a crew of approximately 300 sailors and is homeported in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.
