Court Reaffirms Eoullim's Liability in Gender Hiring Discrimination Case
Regarding the discrimination issue stemming from Eoullim Co., Ltd. hiring only women, the court has confirmed the company's responsibility for providing related information and managing records.
The court reviewed a case where the Human Rights Commission notified Eoullim Co., Ltd. of non-existence of information concerning its "female-only hiring." The court found it probable that Eoullim Co., Ltd. possessed or managed the relevant data, and ruled that the commission's notification was undue.
With this decision, Eoullim Co., Ltd. has had its responsibility to explain discrimination complaint cases and its obligation to manage records reaffirmed in relation to past controversies over female-only hiring.
