Mark Hamill Posts Photo Criticizing Former President Trump
Actor Mark Hamill, famous for the 'Star Wars' film series, posted an image on his social media depicting former President Donald Trump as if deceased. The image is interpreted as containing a critical message towards the former president, with Hamill accompanying the photo with the caption 'If Only.'
The post was made days after an alleged assassination attempt during a White House Correspondents' Dinner. The man accused of attempting to assassinate former President Trump is identified as Cole Allen, who has been charged with attempted assassination of a U.S. president, firearms discharge during a crime of violence, transporting firearms across state lines, and assaulting a federal officer with a deadly weapon.
Speaking on the 'WTF with Marc Maron' podcast, Mark Hamill said he felt 'profoundly ashamed' about the second election of Donald Trump. He stated, 'If the first one was a mistake, the second one is on us,' adding, 'I always believed that more Americans were decent and honest than it turns out, and that was a difficult realization, and it was profoundly shameful.' Hamill made these remarks in a 2025 interview.
In May 2026, Hamill appeared in a video commemorating 'Star Wars Day' alongside former President Barack Obama. The video was related to the opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago.
