Unmanned Hotel Guest Room Opened Due to Card Key Mix-up; Safety Management Questioned
In the early hours of the 18th of last month, an incident occurred at a hotel in Sokcho where guest A's room door was opened by another guest. It was determined that at a hotel where the front desk operates unmanned after midnight, a drunken guest mistook another guest's card key for their own and used it to open A's room door.
The hotel offered a refund, but guest A objected and demanded additional compensation. A filed a petition with the police regarding the hotel's attitude towards the storage and inspection of CCTV footage.
Following the incident, the hotel reinforced the front desk drawer lock, and the Sokcho City government urged the hotel to prevent recurrence and enhance safety management.
