Nvidia to Invest Up to $2.1 Billion in IREN for AI Data Center Construction
Nvidia, a leader in artificial intelligence (AI) chips, is set to build key infrastructure for AI by investing up to $2.1 billion (approximately 2.9 trillion won) in data center developer IREN.
Through this investment, the two companies plan to jointly construct a large-scale AI data center with a capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW) in Texas, USA. 2 GW represents a significant amount of power, enough to serve millions of households, and this decision aims to meet the massive energy demands for AI computation.
Nvidia has secured the right to purchase IREN shares at a specific price for a certain period. Following the announcement of this investment, IREN's stock price rose in after-hours trading. This move is analyzed as part of Nvidia's strategy to expand its investments across the entire AI ecosystem.
