Gwangju Student Stabbing Suspect's Identity Released

The identity of a man in his 20s, the suspect in an incident where two high school students were attacked with a knife in downtown Gwangju, has been publicly released.

The suspect had been reported to the police on charges of stalking prior to the crime, and police are tracing his movements and investigating the motive. Police conducted an additional psychopathy (antisocial personality disorder) diagnostic test on Mr. Jang and decided to release his identity after convening an identity disclosure review committee.

Mr. Jang is accused of fatally stabbing high school sophomore A (17) to death on a pedestrian walkway near a university in Wolgye-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, at approximately 00:11 on the 5th, and severely injuring another high school student, B (17).
