Busan Pile-up Involves 8 Cars; Police Investigate Cause with Driver in His 80s
An eight-vehicle pile-up occurred on the afternoon of August 8 in Saha-gu, Busan, when a car driven by a man in his 80s repeatedly struck vehicles in front of him.
The accident began around 5:40 PM on Gangbyeon-daero in Hada-dong, Saha-gu, Busan, when the vehicle driven by the 80-something male driver hit four cars ahead. The preceding vehicles, pushed by the 80-year-old's car, subsequently collided with two additional vehicles waiting to make a U-turn, resulting in a total of eight cars involved in the crash.
Six drivers sustained minor injuries and are receiving treatment at a hospital.
Investigations revealed no signs of alcohol consumption among the drivers. Police are presuming the accident was caused by driver carelessness and are investigating the exact circumstances.
