Busan Mayoral Candidates Chart Different Courses to Court Voters Ahead of Election
With local elections just over 20 days away, candidates are launching their campaigns to court voters. Democratic Party candidate Jeon Jae-soo kicked off his campaign with an election office opening ceremony to rally support.
People Power Party candidate Park Hyung-joon criticized the Democratic Party's proposed 'Special Prosecutor Bill for Dropping Charges,' stating it undermines constitutional order and targeted the government and ruling party. Park directly warned the government and ruling party that failure to immediately halt the 'Special Prosecutor Bill for Dropping Charges' would result in strong resistance from the entire nation.
Reform Party candidate Jung Yi-han protested the TV debates scheduled primarily for the two major party candidates, beginning a hunger strike to secure an opportunity for policy verification. Jung expressed confidence in his ability to engage in a fierce debate with policy questions that Park Hyung-joon and Jeon Jae-soo cannot answer.
Meanwhile, Jeon Jae-soo and Park Hyung-joon are set to face off in three TV debates starting next week. A policy debate hosted by the Election Broadcasting Debate Commission, which will include Jung Yi-han, is scheduled for May 26th at 11 PM on KBS Busan.
