Over Half Believe Ruling Party Support Necessary for National Stability

A majority of the public responded that it is desirable for more ruling party candidates to be elected for the stability of the current government. Those who answered 'Ruling party candidates' election is necessary for national stability' accounted for 53.3%, while those who answered 'More opposition candidates must be elected to check the government' accounted for 34.1%.

In the election for metropolitan mayors in their residential areas, 51.3% responded they would vote for a Democratic Party candidate, more than double the 23.7% who said they would vote for a People Power Party candidate. This figure shows a 27.6 percentage point widening of the gap between the ruling and opposition parties compared to the third panel survey.

Even when asked about the expected winning candidates regardless of party affiliation, 65.4% expected a Democratic Party candidate to win, far exceeding the 19.0% who expected a People Power Party candidate to win. In the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region, the Democratic Party's support rate was 40.2%, surpassing the People Power Party's 30.1%.

President Lee Jae-myung's job approval rating was 66.9% positive and 28.7% negative. Those who responded 'I will definitely vote' accounted for 71.5%. The margin of error was ±2.4 percentage points at a 95% confidence level. The survey was conducted from May 6 to May 10, 2026, targeting 1,701 voters nationwide.
