The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) is pursuing policies to smartly strengthen its food safety management system by utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies, and to enhance the global market competitiveness of Korean food (K-food). This was announced at the recent '25th Food Safety Day' commemorative ceremony, which was attended by approximately 300 people from the food industry, consumers, and academia, serving as a venue to emphasize the importance of food safety and promote related policies.

In her commemorative address, MFDS Minister Oh Yu-kyong stated, "Safety, which we have meticulously maintained, has now met innovative technologies like AI. By adding innovation to safety, we are building global trust." She added, "We will continue to communicate with consumers and those on the ground towards a world where food safety is commonplace."

The application of 'Food QR,' which allows consumers to easily check food safety and health information via mobile, will be expanded. The Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system will evolve into 'Smart HACCP,' integrating technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT). The intelligent system that automatically records, stores, and manages Critical Control Point (CCP) monitoring data in real-time will be expanded, and 'Global HACCP' will be implemented to manage intentional fraudulent acts, thereby strengthening safety management against food hazards.

The MFDS stated, "A healthy diet should be a daily routine for everyone," adding, "We will continue to strengthen the foundation of food safety administration that ensures the safety of all citizens by connecting the values of safety, innovation, and growth." It further pledged, "We promise a future of healthy K-food that the entire world can trust together."
