Gyeonggi Province to Fund Up to 4 Million KRW for Energy-Efficient HVAC Installation in Welfare Facilities
Gyeonggi Province is launching a project to support welfare facilities in bridging the climate gap by providing funding for the purchase of energy-efficient heating and cooling units at 250 social welfare facilities across 17 cities and counties, including Goyang and Yongin, in cooperation with Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO). Funding will cover up to 4 million KRW per facility.
This year's project has a total budget of 1 billion KRW. KEPCO will cover 50% of the project cost, with Gyeonggi Province and the local governments jointly funding the remainder. Support is provided for up to 100% of the purchase price of energy-efficient equipment. The project targets social welfare centers, elderly medical welfare facilities, and residential facilities for people with disabilities selected based on demand surveys from each municipality.
Gyeonggi Province signed an agreement with KEPCO in October 2024 and plans to invest a total of 3 billion KRW over three years until 2027, supporting approximately 780 facilities. Last year, installations were completed at 279 welfare facilities.
