Iran launches missile attack on South Korean vessel; government announces investigation findings

An official government investigation confirmed on the 27th that the South Korean shipping company HMM's vessel 'Namuho' was attacked by an Iranian-made anti-ship missile in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the investigation results announced at a briefing presided over by the First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, the vessel was hit by two missile attacks within a one-minute interval, with the second missile explosion causing a fire on board.

The government summoned the Iranian Ambassador to Seoul to explain the investigation findings and formally demanded responsible actions, including measures to prevent recurrence, and an apology. The Iranian Ambassador expressed regret over the damage to the South Korean vessel but denied any involvement by the Iranian government.

The President of the Republic of Korea has ordered a stern response through diplomatic channels regarding this incident and has made securing the safety of South Korean vessels and their crews a top priority. The government has been working towards a peaceful resolution of the incident and its prevention through diplomatic efforts, releasing further investigation results.
