Gyeongnam Province plans to invest a total of 1.8589 trillion won by 2035 to transform the Changwon National Industrial Complex into a 'future-oriented advanced industrial complex based on Physical AI.' This plan is the first master plan independently established by Gyeongnam Province since the authority to establish industrial complex structural improvement plans was transferred to municipalities and provinces following a legal revision in 2024. It encompasses AI and digital-based manufacturing innovation and industrial/spatial reorganization strategies.

As a core initiative, Gyeongnam Province will foster the complex as a national manufacturing transformation hub by integrating 'Physical AI' – which makes judgments and operates directly in manufacturing environments – with existing machinery, defense, and nuclear power industries. It has designated intelligent machinery, advanced defense, and nuclear power core components as its three strategic industries and is pursuing a '3+2 industrial structure reorganization.'

The province aims to achieve 100 trillion won in production value, $30 billion in exports, and 130,000 jobs by 2035. Shin Jong-woo, Director of Gyeongnam Province's Urban Housing Bureau, emphasized this as a 'major transformation project to change the industrial DNA of the 50-year-old industrial complex to be AI-centric.'
