A ceremony to commemorate Kim Gun, who died in an accident while repairing screen doors 10 years ago, was held at Guui Station in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul on the 28th.

On this day, citizens honored Kim Gun's memory and urged the establishment of systems to ensure worker safety.

Labor unions and civil society groups participating in the commemoration ceremony, organized by the Seoul Labor Center Council, pointed out that 'outsourcing of danger' persists even 10 years after the tragedy. They criticized the multi-level subcontracting structure, highlighting how risks trickle down. Park Hyun-woo, Vice Chairman of the Seoul Metro Labor Union, criticized the multi-level subcontracting system and the lack of accountability, while Jeon Soo-kyung, co-representative of the Labor Health Solidarity, emphasized that industrial accidents decrease when vulnerable workers, such as contract and outsourced laborers, are safe.

Rep. Ko Min-jung of the Democratic Party of Korea and Rep. Han Chang-min of the Social Democratic Party were among those who attended the commemoration ceremony.
