Arson at Eumseong Apartment: Arrest Warrant Sought for Resident in 20s

A resident in their 20s set fires on five floors of an apartment building in Eumseong County, North Chungcheong Province, with a lighter, leading to three people being taken to the hospital after inhaling smoke.

The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. on the 29th at an 18-story apartment building in Eumseong Town. The resident, identified as A, set fire to items such as paper, boxes, and chair cushions across five floors using a lighter. The flames spread to the management office's notice board, but residents' initial firefighting efforts prevented the fire from escalating into a major blaze.

During police questioning, A stated that dissatisfaction with trash accumulation in the apartment's common areas and workplace stress were the motives for the crime. Initially, A claimed to be exercising on the stairs, but confessed after CCTV footage confirmed the arson.
