Israel Orders Evacuation of Residents Near Hezbollah Stronghold; UN Emergency Meeting Called
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued an evacuation warning on the 1st (local time) to residents of Dahiyeh, a southern suburb of Beirut and a Hezbollah stronghold. Through X (formerly Twitter), the IDF warned that it would strike targets in the southern suburbs, including Dahiyeh, if Hezbollah continued rocket attacks on Israeli cities and towns, urging residents to evacuate for their safety. This warning from Israel came shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to attack Hezbollah's "terror headquarters," and the airstrike warning caused thousands of residents to flee their homes, leading to severe traffic congestion.
The United Nations Security Council will hold an emergency meeting on the 1st (local time) concerning the war in Lebanon.
Iran stated it would cease message exchanges with the United States, designating Israel's airstrikes on Lebanon as a violation of the ceasefire agreement. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned of responsibility for the U.S. and Israel, asserting that a ceasefire across all fronts, including Lebanon, is evident.
The IDF yesterday occupied Beaufort Castle in southern Lebanon, which Prime Minister Netanyahu described as a "dramatic turning point" in the military operation against Hezbollah.
