PPP Leadership Clashes Over Election Defeat Accountability
The leadership of the People Power Party (PPP) clashed at a Supreme Council meeting on the 11th over accountability for the devastating defeat in the June 3 local elections.
The internal conflict escalated after Supreme Council member Woo Jae-jun proposed the total resignation of the leadership, prompting a public rebuttal from Supreme Council member Cho Kwang-han, who dismissed Woo's suggestion as 'childish nonsense.' Kim Min-soo, another Supreme Council member, joined the verbal sparring, criticizing Woo for using the public forum for factional interests.
Leader Jang Dong-hyuk stated that addressing the election commission's ballot shortage issue took precedence over internal party matters, and countered criticism from lawmakers who failed to offer concrete solutions.
