Na Kyung-won, a lawmaker from the People Power Party, has raised the possibility of running in a by-election should Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon resign, asserting there are no legal obstacles.

In a Facebook post on the 14th, Na argued that claims suggesting Mayor Oh cannot run again due to the three-term limit are based on a legal misunderstanding, misinterpreting 'number of terms served' as 'number of times elected'. Na added that her interpretation is valid, as Mayor Oh would not exceed the three-term limit even if he resigned before the start of a new term on July 1st, making him eligible to run in a by-election.

Addressing speculation that she is making these remarks to position herself for a mayoral run, Na dismissed them as "low-level attacks" unworthy of a response.

Meanwhile, Na referred to Wi Cheol-hwan, who assumed the acting role of the National Election Commission Chairman following Roh Tae-ak's resignation, as 'President Lee Jae-myung's closest confidant'. Na claimed that if President Lee were to cover up alleged illegalities and dereliction of duty by the Election Commission, controlled by his close aides, it would constitute a dereliction of his constitutional duty, making him subject to impeachment.

Earlier, on the 12th, Na and other People Power Party lawmakers had called for by-elections to be held in constituencies where issues arise, during a press conference at the National Assembly.
