Democratic Party Urges People Power Party to Halt Accusations Linking President Lee and Election Commission

The Democratic Party (DP) has urged the People Power Party (PPP) to immediately cease its accusations that link President Lee Jae-myung and the National Election Commission (NEC).

DP Senior Spokesperson Kang Jun-hyun pointed out that the PPP's perspective on the NEC's ballot shortage issue has gone beyond the bounds of common sense. Kang claimed that the PPP is attempting to slander President Lee using Standing Committee member Wi Cheol-hwan as a pretext.

Earlier, PPP lawmaker Na Kyung-won cited Wi as being a classmate and a 'dining companion' of President Lee from their law school days, arguing that it is absurd for the NEC to investigate the matter itself and that resignation and confession are appropriate. PPP Senior Spokesperson Choi Bo-yoon also stated that it is an insult to the public to assign the responsibility of NEC reform to an associate of the President.

Kang dismissed the PPP's claims as merely constructing their own delusional worldview by linking unrelated matters. He added that Standing Committee member Wi's acting position was granted according to regulations.

Kang expressed concern that the PPP appears to be attempting to frame electoral management failures as systemic problems and capitalize on delusions of election fraud, reiterating his call for them to halt their political attacks slandering the President.
