President Lee Jae-myung Names New Aides Entering Second Year in Office
President Lee Jae-myung has appointed five senior aides to the presidential office as he begins the second year of his administration. This reshuffle is seen as a signal of the future direction of state affairs. Kang Hoon-sik, the Chief of Staff, announced the appointment results for a total of five aides, including these individuals, at a briefing on the 21st.
Seong Gi-hong, former CEO of Yonhap News, has been appointed as the new Senior Secretary for Public Communication and Spokesperson. Attorney Han Chan-sik will serve as the Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs, and Kim Gyeong-ja, a visiting professor at Woosuk University, has been appointed as the Senior Secretary for Social Affairs. Kang Geon-jak has been appointed as the First Deputy Director of the National Security Office, and Song Ki-ho as the Third Deputy Director, overseeing defense and economic security matters.
Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik explained that the concept behind this personnel reshuffle was to accelerate the realization of the administration's second-year vision, 'An Irreplaceable Republic of Korea.' This focus is on implementing the state vision based on the achievements of the past year.
