Nominee Han Seong-sook Apologizes for Personal Data Breach

Minister of SMEs and Startups Han Seong-sook, who is also the nominee for Prime Minister, personally apologized following an incident where the summarized ideas and email addresses of 5,000 successful applicants from 'Modu-ui Changup' (Startup for All), a government-supported startup information service, were leaked.

Nominee Han expressed deep remorse for failing to protect the trust of those who challenged entrepreneurship with faith in the government and pledged swift action to protect victims and prevent further damage. She also stated that measures would be implemented to ensure challengers' ideas are safely protected.

Nominee Han stated that she would restore trust through a thorough investigation into the cause of the incident and responsible follow-up actions. She explained that investigations into the cause, the leak's circumstances, and the extent of the damage are being conducted in parallel with security diagnostics and improvement measures, in cooperation with relevant agencies and external cybersecurity experts.
