Song Young-gil conveyed his decision to run in the party convention to President Lee Jae-myung, who responded positively with "Do well," Park added.
The Democratic Party is heading toward its national convention on August 17th. On the 24th, Representative Chung Sye-kyun announced his intention to step down as party leader, paving the way for his bid to retain the position.
