President Lee Pushes for Expanded Regional Industrial Investment

President Lee Jae-myung emphasized on the 25th the importance of 'strategic industry diversification,' which aims to expand investment in advanced core industries nationwide, moving away from an industrial structure concentrated solely in the Seoul metropolitan area. The President announced at a meeting of senior secretaries that he would create new industrial foundations in various local areas to usher in an era where the Seoul metropolitan area and provinces grow together.

On the 25th, the President stated that strategic industry diversification, which expands large-scale investment in advanced core industries to regions like Yeongnam, Chungcheong, Gangwon, Jeju, and Honam, is essential to overcome the concentrated system of the Seoul metropolitan area.

Earlier, on the 24th, Kim Yong-beom, the Senior Secretary to the President for Policy, reported that the plan to establish a second semiconductor cluster in the Honam and Chungcheong regions is nearing final confirmation. Secretary Kim added, "Once confirmed, we will arrange a session to explain it directly to the public along with companies and relevant ministries."
