President Lee Jae-myung to Host Public Briefing on 3 Mega-Projects
The plans for South Korea's three mega-projects will be announced on June 29. Aimed at reshaping the nation's spatial organization, fostering balanced national development, and securing future growth engines, the projects will concentrate on three key sectors: semiconductors, Artificial Intelligence (AI) data centers (DC), and Physical AI & robotics.
President Lee Jae-myung is scheduled to preside over the 'Korea's Great Leap Forward: 3 Mega-Projects National Briefing' at Cheong Wa Dae on June 29, where he will unveil the government's large-scale project initiatives centered on these three areas.
Prior to this, President Lee reportedly held separate private meetings with SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won on June 19 and Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong on June 24, discussing investments in semiconductor clusters and other related matters.
On June 26, Cheong Wa Dae Chief Policy Secretary Kim Yong-beom foreshadowed the announcement of large-scale domestic investment plans by global top-tier companies, noting that 'the scale is so immense that controversy is expected to escalate.' He added that the investment scale and details would be 'highly unfamiliar,' raising anticipation for future shifts in the domestic industrial landscape.
