Hanwha Group Vice Chairman Kim Dong-kwan Announces 55 Trillion Won Investment at AI Semiconductor Forum

Hanwha Group Vice Chairman Kim Dong-kwan announced an investment of 55 trillion won in advanced industries, focusing on the Yeongnam region, at the 'National Briefing on AI and Semiconductor Investment' held in Gyeongnam. This investment will prioritize defense AI projects aimed at securing national space sovereignty and self-reliant defense capabilities, including the development of launch vehicles, satellite services, and the establishment of space and defense AI data centers.

Other corporate leaders, including Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, also attended the briefing. Hyundai Motor Group announced plans to invest 42 trillion won over 10 years to develop the Yeongnam region into a core hub for future mobility industries.

Busan City presented its vision for fostering advanced industries in the Yeongnam region and signed investment agreements. Samsung Electro-Mechanics plans to invest 15 trillion won by 2040 to establish production bases for AI server package substrates and MLCCs, centered at its Busan facilities.
