President Lee Jae-myung Congratulates U.S. on 250th Independence Anniversary, Emphasizes Alliance

President Lee Jae-myung sent congratulatory remarks to U.S. President Donald Trump and the American people on July 5, commemorating the United States' 250th anniversary of independence.

President Lee posted on X (formerly Twitter), "The United States, which embarked on a great journey toward the ideals of freedom and democracy 250 years ago, has overcome numerous challenges and led international peace and prosperity." He stated, "The Republic of Korea is a cherished partner of the United States, who has defended these values together."

President Lee remarked, "Over 70 years ago, during the Korean War, countless young Americans spared no sacrifice to defend the freedom of the Republic of Korea." He added, "We will forever remember that noble devotion and continue to strengthen the ROK-U.S. alliance."

He further noted, "Today, the two countries are developing into future-oriented partners achieving prosperity together, expanding the scope of cooperation beyond security to areas such as economy, cutting-edge technology, energy, shipbuilding, nuclear power, and future fields including artificial intelligence."

President Lee conveyed, "Moving forward, together with President Trump, we will achieve a new leap for the ROK-U.S. alliance based on shared values and firm trust, and jointly contribute to peace and shared prosperity on the Korean Peninsula and in the world." He concluded, "I wholeheartedly wish God's blessings and peace upon all American citizens."
