Lawmakers Propose Easing School Zone Speed Limits at Night
The 30 km/h speed limit in child protection zones could be relaxed on weekdays from 9 PM to 6 AM the following day, as well as on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, substitute holidays, and during school breaks.
Song Eon-seok, a lawmaker from the People Power Party, has introduced a partial amendment to the Road Traffic Act containing these provisions, aiming to enhance traffic efficiency while safeguarding children's safety.
Several lawmakers, including Na Kyung-won, Yoo Sang-beom, Kim Mi-ae, and Lee Jun-seok, have co-sponsored the amendment.
