Mass production of humanoid robots designed to take the place of humans in hazardous environments is set to begin in 2027. Canadian firm Mira Robotics unveiled plans on the 3rd (local time) to mass-produce its third-generation humanoid robot, 'MH3.' Having developed the MH3 specifically for dangerous work sites, the company is currently validating eight prototypes with plans to manufacture thousands of units over the next three years.

Built on a wheeled mobile platform, the MH3 can lift loads of up to 30kg with each arm and operate continuously for 10 hours without recharging. It features 31 degrees of freedom to replicate human arm and hand movements. By utilizing a virtual reality (VR) headset and motion capture gloves, the robot can be controlled from distances of up to 1,500 km. This capability was developed for use in areas where human access is restricted, such as radioactive contamination zones.

To prepare for mass production, Mira Robotics plans to expand its workforce to 20 employees. CEO Tarek Rahim stated that the company is accelerating subsequent procedures in line with the expanding adoption of humanoids in North American manufacturing sites.
