Han Byeong-do Acting Chair Urges PM Han to Accelerate 3 Major National Projects…Calls for 'Trinity' of Government and National Assembly
Han Byeong-do, acting leader and floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, urged Prime Minister Han Duck-soo on the 10th to push forward with the government, public-private sector, and the National Assembly working in total unity regarding the "three mega-projects." Acting Leader Han announced that the party would process follow-up legislation, such as the Mega Special Zone Special Act, with lightning speed, centering on the party's special committee. He also pledged to respond more sensitively and thoroughly to ensure that all derived state tasks and legislation are passed by the end of the year.
Prime Minister Han, during his visit to the National Assembly, requested the swift launch of the special committee and a speedy response to ensure the successful implementation of the three mega-projects. He emphasized that the second year of an administration is a time when tangible results must be shown so that the people can feel changes in their daily lives. Prime Minister Han replied that the government would also work quickly to match that pace and promised close consultations between the party and the government, including the operation of channels such as the High-Level Party-Government Consultative Council.
Meanwhile, as the Democratic Party launched the "Special Committee for Support for the 3 Mega Projects" on this day, Jang Chul-min, the secretary of the special committee, stated that drastic incentives, such as exceptions to the 52-hour workweek, and bold regulatory special cases would be brought to the public forum to promote the projects.
