People Power Party Criticizes Kim Eo-jun for 'Insulting Victims' Over Remarks on 'Jang Yoon-ki Case'

The People Power Party (PPP) on Nov. 11 criticized YouTuber Kim Eo-jun for insulting the victim through a commentary by Senior Spokesperson Park Sung-hoon. The criticism came after Kim remarked regarding the 'Jang Yoon-ki case'—the murder of a high school girl in Gwangju—that 'cases of this level happen several times a year.'

Park characterized the remarks as an act of 'using a tragedy for partisan gain while disregarding the grief of the victim who lost their life and their bereaved family.'

Park raised the fact that 'the suspect’s father, a serving police officer, showed signs of destroying evidence,' arguing that this case demonstrates the necessity of retaining the prosecution's right to supplementary investigation. He criticized the Democratic Party, claiming that if it forces through a bill to abolish the prosecution's supplementary investigation rights, it will be dancing to the incitement of YouTubers like Kim.
