Pursuant to the 'Regional Participation-Based Education Superintendent Recruitment System' promoted by Gyeonggi Provincial Superintendent of Education An Min-seok, interview screenings will be conducted by appointment recommendation councils for education superintendents in 12 education support offices, including Goyang and Suwon, starting on the 13th. The local education superintendents will be appointed based on the results of these interviews, led by a review council composed of school staff, parents, students, and residents, combined with online peer evaluations. The term is up to four years, with annual interim evaluations.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education plans to expand the system to all 25 education support offices in the province. However, a similar system pilot-operated in some regions in 2019 was suspended after just six months due to a low number of applicants and a bias toward specific groups.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will operate a 7-day mourning period from the 13th to the 19th to mark the third anniversary of the death of a teacher at Seoi Elementary School. Memorial spaces for the deceased teacher have been set up on the first floors of the Southern and Northern office buildings. The office requested that celebratory events and the distribution of press releases focused on publicity be refrained from during the mourning period. Superintendent An is scheduled to visit the memorial space at the Southern office on the morning of the 13th to pay his respects.
