The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 13th that it is closing its investigation into insult charges against Gwangju Jeil High School regarding the Baejae High School baseball team's cheering slogans, as the school expressed that it does not wish for punishment. Speaking at a regular press briefing on the 13th, Seoul Police Commissioner Park Jeong-baek explained that insults are a crime where punishment is impossible if the victim does not desire it, and that the victim, Gwangju Jeil High School, had expressed their refusal to press charges.

Separately, the police are currently analyzing Shinsegae Group's internal audit materials and questioning relevant parties to determine whether the Starbucks 'Tank Day' event insulted the honored contributors of the May 18 Democratic Uprising.

Police are also conducting an investigation into the appointment process of former national team head coach Hong Myung-bo. Commissioner Park revealed that the case has been transferred to the Financial Crimes Investigation Unit of the Wide-Agency Investigation Division. With one recent additional accusation bringing the total to nine cases under investigation, the key focus is whether former Korea Football Association President Chung Mong-gyu and other figures unduly interfered in the appointment process. Police are comprehensively examining related materials and the circumstances surrounding the decision.
