Police Worker Detained for Stabbing Teenage Girl; Motive Under Investigation

At 3 p.m. on the 25th, Judge Oh Ha-na of the Seoul Southern District Court issued a detention warrant after conducting a pre-detention interrogation of Mr. Hong. Mr. Hong is suspected of stabbing a teenage girl with a weapon at around 1:26 p.m. on the 23rd in a multi-family housing neighborhood in Hagok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul.

Police, who responded to a report, arrested Mr. Hong at the scene. The victim suffered an abdominal injury and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment but is in a condition that is not life-threatening.

Police have determined that Mr. Hong and the victim are acquaintances and are investigating the exact circumstances and motive of the crime.
