Senate Advances Bill to Sanction Russia and Iran

The U.S. Senate is proceeding with a vote on a bipartisan sanctions bill targeting Russia and Iran within the next week. The bill, finalized as the "Lindsey O. Graham Russia and Iran Sanctions Act," is based on legislative initiatives championed by the late Senator Lindsey Graham and primarily aims to curb funding for Russia's war efforts and sanction Iran's arms and energy sectors.

Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Katie Britt discussed the bipartisan bill. Sanctions targets include Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin, and key Iranian entities.

The Senate plans to complete action on the bill by next week. If passed by the Senate, the bill will be held in abeyance until the House of Representatives returns to session.
