Samsung Electronics to Launch AI Smart Glasses Developed with Google and Qualcomm This Year
Choi Jae-in, Vice President and Head of the XR (Extended Reality) Development Team at Samsung Electronics MX Division, announced that the company will release its smart glasses, 'Intelligent Eyewear' (AI Glasses), developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, within this year. Vice President Choi emphasized that the device is not a replacement for smartphones, but rather a 'companion' device that extends the mobile experience while reducing the frequency of needing to take out a smartphone.
To protect user privacy, the device utilizes technology where internal and external LED indicators illuminate during recording, and recording functions are automatically deactivated when the glasses are removed.
The product has passed rigorous durability tests, including exposure to high temperatures, humidity, sweat, UV rays, and repetitive hinge folding. It offers up to 9 hours of usage on a single charge.
