Chung Cheong-rae tells Yoo Seong-min not to interfere with party convention over 'Roh Moo-hyun spirit' remark
Rep. Chung Cheong-rae, a candidate for the Democratic Party leadership, hit back at former Rep. Yoo Seong-min on Tuesday, urging him not to interfere in the party’s national convention. In a Facebook post on August 3, Rep. Chung argued that it was unseemly for Mr. Yoo to specifically name and attack a contender in the Democratic Party primary.
Earlier, Mr. Yoo had criticized Rep. Chung and others on Facebook regarding the revision of the Criminal Procedure Act passed by the National Assembly. He cited the testimony made by Rep. Kwak Sang-eun, the late former President Roh Moo-hyun’s son-in-law, who claimed that the push to strip prosecutors of their investigative authority went against President Roh’s wishes.
Mr. Yoo shared a related article on his Facebook the same day, countering that abolishing the prosecution’s supplementary investigation rights threatens public safety and that using the deceased for political gain constitutes defamation, with both sides continuing their verbal exchange.
