Former Executive Detained for Raping Female Employee in Her 20s with Intellectual Disabilities

A court issued an arrest warrant for a former executive who impregnated a female employee in her 20s certified with a grade 2 intellectual disability through sexual assault. Mr. Lee, who worked as a managing director at a laundry business in Namdong-gu, Incheon, is suspected of committing the crime repeatedly against Ms. A from last summer until June. Mr. Lee is charged with quasi-rape of a disabled person under the Special Act on the Punishment of Sex Crimes.

The victim, Ms. A, became pregnant as a result of the assault and gave birth to a daughter on April 27. The police launched an investigation in March after receiving a report from the victim's family, who belatedly discovered that unmarried Ms. A was pregnant. The police secured key evidence by comparing the DNA of the baby and Mr. Lee before applying for the warrant.

After conducting a pre-arrest interrogation of Mr. Lee on the 12th, Incheon District Court Chief Judge Jeon Gyeong-ho issued the warrant, stating, "There is a concern that the suspect may destroy evidence or flee."
