Negative Assessments of President Lee Jae-myung Top 50%... Approval Stands at 43%
Negative assessments of President Lee Jae-myung's handling of state affairs reached 50% for the first time since he took office, according to the results of a National Barometer Survey released on the 1st. This marks the first time negative assessments have entered the 50% range. The survey, conducted by Embrain Public, Kstat Research, Korea Research, and Hankook Research through telephone interviews with more than 1,000 adults nationwide from the 28th to the 30th of last month, was released on the 1st.
In the previous survey three weeks earlier, positive assessments stood at 43% and negative assessments at 48%. Negative assessments rose 2 percentage points this time, while the "dead cross" — negative assessments overtaking positive ones — first appeared in that previous survey.
In party support, the Democratic Party of Korea stood at 35%, down 4 percentage points from three weeks earlier. The People Power Party remained unchanged at 25%. The Rebuilding Korea Party drew 3%, the Reform Party 2%, and the Progressive Party 1%, while independents — those with no party preference or who declined to respond — totaled 32%.
