US Vice President JD Vance has voiced his determination to complete the Alaska liquefied natural gas (LNG, a fuel made by converting natural gas into liquid for maritime transport) development project, regardless of whether South Korea's government changes. In an interview with Alaska-based broadcaster 'Alaska News Source' on Friday, local time, Vance said, "There are some political dynamics in Korea," adding, "Whether it's Korea's current government or the next one, we will complete this project, even if that means partnering with Japan or other countries."

Vance also touted the competitiveness of Alaskan gas. "People desperately want natural gas produced in Alaska," he said, arguing that Alaskan gas is "cheaper, higher quality, and more reliable than gas from some petty dictatorship." Citing strong demand and the Trump administration's firm resolve, he reiterated, "We're going to get this done."

US President Donald Trump announced South Korea's $200 billion investment package in the United States on the 30th of last month, saying Korea had agreed to invest $50 billion in the Alaska LNG project. However, the South Korean government maintains that no such investment has been finalized.
